Put SkipOS on your phone's home screen
Takes about twenty seconds, and afterwards SkipOS opens full screen from your home screen like any other app — no browser bars, no typing an address, no app store.
Worth doing on the phone you actually carry in the truck. Most operators check the run sheet first thing in the morning, and one tap from the home screen is the difference between doing that and not bothering.
On an iPhone or iPad
Safari · about 20 seconds
- 1Open skipos.co.za in Safari. It has to be Safari — Chrome on iPhone can’t add to the home screen.
- 2Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen — the square with an arrow pointing up.
- 3Scroll down the list and tap "Add to Home Screen".
- 4Tap "Add" in the top right. The SkipOS icon appears on your home screen.
On an Android phone
Chrome · about 20 seconds
- 1Open skipos.co.za in Chrome.
- 2Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
- 3Tap "Add to Home screen", or "Install app" if you see that instead.
- 4Tap "Add" to confirm. The SkipOS icon appears with your other apps.
What changes once it's there
- Opens full screen — no address bar eating the top of your screen.
- One tap from the home screen instead of finding a browser tab.
- Stays signed in, so there is no logging in every morning.
- Updates itself. There is nothing to download when something new ships.
Stuck on it?
Phones differ and some hide the menu somewhere odd. Send me a WhatsApp and I'll walk you through it — it takes a minute.
