Find a skip near you
Tell us what the job is and we will put you in touch with a skip hire operator who works your area. It costs you nothing, you are under no obligation, and one operator gets your details — not ten of them ringing you all afternoon.
Where do you need it?
Cape Town and the Western Cape
Not on the list? Pick the nearest one and say where you actually are — most operators cover a good deal more ground than the town they are based in.
How it works
- 1
Tell us the job
Your name, a number to ring you on, and whatever you already know about the job. If you do not know what size you need, leave it blank — that is what the operator is for.
- 2
We pass it to one operator
Somebody who actually works your area, so you are not paying for a lorry to drive across the province.
- 3
They quote you directly
You deal with the operator from there. We do not take a cut of the job and we do not set the price.
Questions people ask before they book
What does it cost to hire a skip?
It depends on the size, how long you keep it and what you put in it — clean building rubble, garden refuse and mixed waste go to different sites and are priced differently. We do not set the price. Tell us the job and an operator will quote you directly, which is a real number rather than a guess from us.
What size skip do I need?
For a bathroom strip-out, a 4 cube usually does it. For a whole house clearance, a 6. For paving, sand or soil, take the smaller bin and fill it properly — heavy material hits the weight limit long before the bin looks full, and an overloaded skip cannot legally be carried. If you are not sure, say what the job is and let the operator advise.
Can the skip stand in the road?
Only with a permit from your municipality, and it has to be marked and lit at night. If it is going on your own property or inside a complex, you do not need one. Most operators arrange the permit for you, but it takes a few days — so do not leave it until the morning the builders start.
What can I not put in a skip?
No asbestos, tyres, paint or solvents, gas bottles, fridges or anything containing gas, and no car batteries. If you are unsure about something, ask before the bin arrives. The tip will refuse the whole load and you will be charged for the trip.
How soon can I get one?
Often the next day, sometimes the same day if you ring early. The usual delay is not the bin — it is a permit if the skip has to stand in the road, or the season if you are somewhere that has just had a storm.
Who gets my details?
One skip hire operator working your area. Not ten of them, and nobody else. You will get a call back on the number you give us.
